Well, it has been a whole week since I have posted. This week was full of ups and downs. First of all I totally pigged out last Thursday night and ate a whole pizza. The next day Kenny and I went to the movies and I was coerced into having chinese buffet....very bad for the points. I continued to eat a lot all week. I tried to stay in the points, but went a little over a few times. Every day was a battle. In the end however, I did lose a pound. I was pretty happy with that seeing as I hadn't been very committed.

Here's hoping for a better week this week!

Treat Day

last night was weigh in night. I did well at the scales and lost another 2lbs. I usually try to treat myself after I weigh in because it is my only opportunity to splurge without really effecting my weight loss the next week. Well...I splurged last night all right! I decided I was going to have a whole pepperoni pizza even though what I really wanted was KFC. I ate the whole thing and then topped it off with a chocolate cake bar. Oh my...I then decided to calculate how many points I went over. Well, I knew it was going to be bad because pepperoni pizza is always bad, but I didn't realize I was going over my so many points. I figured out I spent 20 points on pizza alone and then another 3.5 points on the cake bar. Add that to the 10 points I had already eaten during the day, and I ate a whooping 33.5 points. My daily point target is 21 points, meaning I went over by 12.5 points (more than half a day).

Now I am feeling guilty. I like my treat, but I feel like I have started this week off in a bad place. Now I need to try and make up for those points but eating less the next few days. If I allow myself 18 points per day it will take me 4 days to make it up. However, 18 points is hard to stick to for almost a whole week. I will let you know how I have done.

The Movies

Ahh...movie theatre popcorn, is there anything better?? Well I went to a movie this afternoon and before we left, we decided we did not need any food. There is a wonderful Chinese buffet in the same building as the cinema and Kenny REALLY wanted to go there. We are trying to save money though, so we both said NO!

As we were standing in line to buy our tickets, the smells were wafting around us. We walked past the concession stand and then noticed a sign saying any 8 items for 7 pounds. Well Kenny could not believe the deal and had to get it! Needless to say we did end up getting food - Nachos, popcorn, a hot dog, chips, a pop, water, a kitkat bar, and a mini ice cream pot all for 7 quid! I kept telling him I couldn't eat much because I didn't have many points, but he assured me he was quite hungry.

I got to choose what I wanted. I had the popcorn (no butter, no seasoning) and a bottle of water. I guess it wasn't that bad. When I got home I figured out the points and found my popcorn was actually only 3points. Not so bad at all! I guess I will be able to give in to my Movie popcorn addiction after all. It also kept me from picking at his more fattening chocolate, nacho and ice cream treats!

The Wonders of Spin Class

Well I didn't do too bad this week. I actually managed to lose 2 pounds. I felt a little disappointed at that, but I shouldn't. It was just a lot less than the week before, but that is going to happen. I have been pretty good since Thursday night (weigh in day). I had a great day yesterday - making a veggie pasta for supper. I pigged out and still had a couple points left.

Today I went to spin class....OH MY! I have been to spin class before and it is a great workout. I haven't been for a while though and I struggled. Well, I didn't really struggle as much as sweated my but off. I guess that is the point though! The only problem with working out in the morning, is that I find I am hungry all day. After the gym I was starving so I bought a healthy salad from the grocery store and ate it at Starbucks while I was drinking my coffee and reading my 'American Magazines'. I have also had half a punnet of Strawberries.

The struggle lately has been living with my Hubby. He absolutely loves KFC and has had it twice the past week. It is very difficult to sit next to him and smell it, and not have anything. I have been good though. Today I demanded one bite though!

Starting to struggle

All I wanted to do today was eat! Everything I loved at I wanted to shove in my mouth. I was really having a hard time. So, I did go over my points. Sure wish I had flexpoints - no such thing in England. I am really unsure about this weeks weight in. I can't say I feel like I have lost anything, although I didn't feel like I had lost anything last week either and I lost 4.5lbs. I just need two good days...fingers crossed!

Sorry!

Okay, I know there are only a couple people who actually read this blog, but it is supposed to help encourage some friends who need encouragement on their own weight loss journeys. I haven't posted for a few days and was starting to feel pretty guilty about it. In case you thought I fell off the weight loss wagon - not the case....I have just been busy.

Friday feels like ten years ago...my weeks seem to flying by at the moment. Anyway, I will update you on my food dairies and let you know what I have been up to. I only work until 2pm every Friday, so I am home early. I always feel like a nap when I get home and Friday is the only day I actually let myself do that. Well I had good intentions to go to the gym for Legs, Bums and Tums class....but that didn't happen. I had a Doc's appointment at 3:30 and then had to go to the shop and when I got home I was tired. I went and picked Kenny up from the bus stop and that was it...home for the rest of the night.

On Sat Kenny decided to cook. Well I am blessed with a husband who loves to cook. He makes some delicious dishes, however, he is not always concerned with the calorie or fat content of his cooking. He had invited a friend over for supper, and was roasting a duck. I looked ahead in my book and tried to figure out how many points supper would be. I tried to save most of my points because there was also going to be chocolate cheesecake for dessert! I did pretty good. I went over my points slightly, but I also went to the gym and ran for 45 minutes (boy am I sore today!)

Today has been a lazy day. I did manage to stay within my points though. I haven't really done anything productive because my legs are too sore to do any exercise. I hoping I feel better by tomorrow so I can go back to the gym.

I did it!

Today was weigh in day. Now if anyone has ever done weight watchers before, you know all the tricks. First of all, on weight in day you try to eat light. You also don't drink as much water because water is heavy. Then when you actually get to the scales, you take off as much clothing and jewellery as you can without being naked! It's true!

Today I ate well all day and kept telling myself I couldn't have the treat because I was weighing tonight. Of course I was starving by 6:30pm, but it was worth it. I had a weight loss of 4.5 pounds tonight and was thrilled.

Those of you who have been down the WW route also know that after the weight in is the only time you can pig out and not care. And that is exactly what i did. I made a pasta dish with cheese on top and baked it in the oven. I estimate that I ate about 15 points for supper, which really isn't that bad, but I am stuffed!

My Dilemma...I generally eat a good breakfast and pack a healthy lunch. By the time I get home from work I am starved. I eat a good supper, but lately I have been stuffed after supper with more points yet to eat. I know I should just eat more during the day, but then I lose the flexibility of eating a more calorific supper should I wish. Today I couldn't possible eat any more and still have a few points.

So today I finally made it back to the gym. I really didn't want to go. I could have easily come straight home form work...I was tired and hungry. I had to make a decision and stick to it, no matter how many times I told myself I was too tired during my 30 minute drive. I started easy with a Pilates class. I could tell I hadn't been to the gym for a few weeks as my body struggled, but I am so glad I stuck it out. The hour actually went quite quickly!

I also signed up for spin class. Let's see if I can make myslef go tomorrow night...

The Hunger Strikes

So I think I have been doing well over the past few days. I have tried very hard to keep to my points. I have had a few treats, but have always counted them. I am now starting to get hungry. I mean really HUNGRY....growling belly all day long hunger. I am not sure if it just the fact that I have been eating so much over the past few weeks my body has gone into shock, or the fact that I am eating small regular meals and my metabolism is increasing.

I have wanted to eat all day today. I packed a sensible lunch and was already eating from it by 10:30. I finished most of in on my lunch break and then for the rest of the day struggled with not eating the children's treats. I did slip and eat a 1/2 of a ham sandwich at the children's tea time. I just couldn't last! I think tomorrow I will have to pack a few more snacky things.

I have three more days before I go weigh in again. I really don't feel any different yet. Why is loosing weight so difficult???

My Weight History

Okay so here it goes....I am starting my first Blog! I don't know where to begin and I don't know where this will lead me. The main purpose is to keep track of my new healthy living/weight loss commitment and share in these struggles with my friends.

Most of you know I have been down the Weigh Watchers (WW) road before. Shortly after I married Kenny, I was at my heaviest weight ever. After Christmas 2003, I was at an all time low. I felt horrible about gaining so much weight. I met a girl in one of my university classes who was going to a WW meeting and I asked her all about it. I had been curious for a while, but too scared to go on my own. She invited me along to the meeting that evening. My first week I lost 5.5 pounds and I was hooked.

Well I continued to go to the meetings for over a year and successfully lost close to 50 pounds. I surpassed my goal and became a lifetime member. I felt awesome and was so proud of myself for reaching my goal. I had more confidence and was more outgoing.

Shortly after reaching my goal I decided it would be a good idea to go teach in England after graduation. Kenny agreed this was a good idea and the process began. After passports, interviews and work permits, we ended up in the UK in Sept 2004. Up until this time I was maintaining my weight quite well. I continue to watch my weight for a few months but found it increasingly difficult to eat healthy in a country where everything was so different. I couldn't find any of the low-fat food option available in North America. In fact ALL the food packaging was different. Going grocery shopping already took long enough without me searching for these foods.

I settled into my new life in a new country and starting gaining weight. I joined the gym and tried to work off some of these unwanted pounds, but it was too slow. I started attending meetings again with a friend I met in the UK. I tried to get back on board, but couldn't ever seem to just 'do it.'

I have been back and forth for the past year joining and quiting WW meetings. My weight has been up and down, up and down. Over the past 3 years I have gained back over 25 pounds of the weight I had lost. At least I haven't gained it all back, but it still makes me feel bad.

I have made a commitment to get back on board and loose the weight again. I want to be able to feel good about myself again. I want to be able to put on a bathing suit and not feel like everyone is starting at my cellulite. I have made this my New years resolution to loose 25 pounds by August 2008 (This is when I am in two very important weddings). I have joined WW AGAIN and will use this site to log what I eat and my weight loss/gain.
